Booster pumps are ideal if the water pressure in your property is low. There are three types of booster pumps:
1. Pumps that directly feed from the mains (from the mains water supply) Water By-laws specifically exempt you from installing any pump to your incoming main (Exemptions for pumps ‘up to’ 12 l/min).
2. Pumps with integral break tanks - tank has integral water storage (around the size of a washing machine) in one unit;
3. Pumps with external break tanks – water storage is separate from the pump unit. The size of the pump and storage tank is dependent on the water usage.
Some boilers require external pumps to push water around the heating system. Combination boilers have built in pumps.
SHOWER PUMPS
If water pressure is low in your bathroom shower pumps are ideal for boosting pressure (if you have a gravity system - usually a storage tank in your loft area).
